Musical Instrument Restoration and Conservation.

Stephen Bacon came to Ashland, Oregon, in 1979 to perform with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival Green Show musicians. He fell in love with Southern Oregon and came back, making recorders for a number of years before his previous work in restoration came to fruition in the form of a string instrument repair business. He has owned Bellwood Violin for over twenty years with great joy and success.

Fine Custom Wood Furniture

In 1999, I moved to Etna, a small town in Northern California, and joined the Siskiyou Woodcraft Guild, where I have enjoyed the company of the other woodworkers and attend wood shows in Ashland, OR. In 2004, I entered some pieces in my first big show, Portland's Best of the Northwest. To my amazement, I won the Best of Show and a Peer Award for my Demilune Table and received requests to teach classes for the Guild of Oregon Woodworkers.

Russell Beebee - Working in Wood

In the Summer of 2003, Russell Beebe was commissioned by Lloyd Matthew Haines to create a 20 foot sculpture from a standing dead White Oak Tree. "At first glance, the big tree gave me an indication of how my design would evolve, from the juncture of the first large branch down to the base. The very uniform trunk offered freedom to create while the divergence of the branch above would dictate form. This and Mr. Haines' desire that the sculpture honor the Tree, our Wildlife and the Native Peoples who once lived in the area gave me the spectrum to create."

Russell also builds fine furniture, does repair/restoration and teaches wood carving.

Roger Butterfield - Specializing in Custom Carved Fireplace Mantels

Roger learned to whittle at his grandfather's knee.  He found
he had an affinity for the wood and a love of creating, but it was not for another twenty-five years that he would begin teaching himself European wood carving and embark on his artistic journey.

Dev Klarer -
Dances With Woods Woodcraft

I moved to Ashland in 2014 after a tour in the U.S. Peace Corps. I grew up in Kentucky learning woodcraft from a master woodworker who happened to be my dad. I have dabbled in many areas of woodwork including: bows and arrows, custom beehives, small furniture, and boxes.

As of this writing, my obsession in the wood world is with intricate geometric shapes and patterns and optical illusions (what you might label a form of parquetry). My aim is to make some of the most visually stunning cutting boards and wood wall hangings you will ever see! I hope you will check out my website!
