Insight Into Woodworking classes.

The Insight program is intended to provide an introductory level of information for beginning and intermediate woodworkers. Instructors will lecture and demonstrate basic woodworking tools and techniques. These classes will NOT provide hands-on experience. The Insight Into Woodworking series of classes are offered for $100 per person. Class fee will be collected at the first class, if you have not already mailed it in.

Classes are currently scheduled to begin in February 2008. Each session is 2-3 hours in duration and are conducted at the instructor’s shop, usually in the local Ashland area, on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. In some cases, attendees may be asked to attend class at a different time or on a weekend due to location or instructor availability.

Setting up Shop: This session will cover basic shop setup. It will also provide you an opportunity to meet the instructors, review class schedule and voice your needs.

Sharpening: Provides you with a multitude of options to sharpen plane irons and chisels.

Hand tools: Provides an overview of common hand tools: planes, scrapers, and spokeshaves.

Material preparation and furniture considerations: This session provides milling fundamentals and the use of the jointer and planer. Understanding and choosing wood.

Veneering: Demonstration of how to resaw wood for veneers and prepare veneers for glue-up. Overview and use of the bandsaw.

Cabinet making and table saws: This session will provide an overview of cabinet making and the use of the table saw.

Routers and shapers: Provides an overview and use of routers and shapers.

Jigs, fixtures and templates: of the building and using jigs, fixtures and templates.

Carving: Provides an overview of carving tools and techniques.

Finishing techniques: Provides an overview of finishes and finishing techniques.

If you are interested in attending the Insight Into Woodworking program, please complete the questionnaire and return it by February 7th. Enrollment is limited to the first 25 students who are registered and paid.
